I Got My Chi On! ChiRunning Book, DVD and Training Plan Giveaway!

Disclosure:  I was given free product from Chi Running to give away.   I was not compensated in any way for this post. All opinions are my own.

Shin splints were bringin' me down, y'all!

My first year of running came to a close with shin splints.  All year I had experienced tight calves, but no real pain.  Until that 10K that left me limping for 3 days.  Shin splints diagnosed and 8 weeks of (not cheap) PT.

I was ready to run again!  The excitement was short-lived; the pain came back almost immediately.  I was so frustrated.  Was my running over after only a year?  There had to be something I could do.

Unable to afford special coaching or training, I turned to the local library and found Danny and Katherine Dreyer's book CHI Running.  The book advertised a "revolutionary approach to effortless, injury-free running".  Yeah - I needed to get me some of that.

Thanks to plenty of pictures in the book and descriptive imagery, I set to work on changing my form.  NOT an easy thing to do.  There was pride involved.  I was used to being relatively speedy and having to constantly think about how my body was moving was definitely slowing me down.

As time went on, though, the frustration lessened as the new movements became more natural.  I was noticing a difference.  Best part?  It didn't hurt.

Now that I have been using the Chi Running program for almost 3 years, I'm back up to speed.  When I get tired and slip out of the proper form I notice pretty quickly.  Do I have the form completely correct?  Probably not.  Am I running without tight calves and shin pain?  Yes.  Am I convinced that Chi Running has saved my running?  Absolutely.

Now, I want to share this gift of injury-free running with you!  The folks at ChiRunning have graciously given me a book, DVD and a half-marathon training program to giveaway!  Even if you don't struggle with injury, I firmly believe that ChiRunning can improve your overall fitness and speed.

If you don't win the giveaway, you can head on over to the brand new Chi Store and choose some new Chi Running materials, including a Chi Run / Walk program!  Also, Chi Running is a sponsor of this year's inaugural Asheville Half Marathon on the Biltmore Estate.  I'm excited to add that race to my calendar this year and hope to meet Danny Dreyer so I can thank him in person!  This race is almost sold out, so hurry and register!

Rafflecopter giveaway runs from February 12 to midnight, February 18.  U.S. residents only.
